Doctor's Follow up

So as most know, I've had surgery lately.  Something funny though I had to share.  At my follow up the doctor was checking out my scars/stitches, and I said owww, is that still supposed to hurt?  His response? "Yeah, you should still hurt, you know, like after you've been stabbed."  I had to laugh, he expected me to know what it felt like to be stabbed, you mean, I haven't been stabbed? Knock on wood! This is ONE thing that I haven't had the experience of!
